Vibration. The transfer of energy, information and the elimination of sources of vibration

The integration of the TwinSpin® cycloidal reduction high precision gearbox from the SPINEA into a wide range of specific applications in opera halls is the result of the extensive theoretical and practical experience of the highly qualified experts employed by the company, which has also been satisfying the highly specified needs of customers around the world for years.

A perfect artistic impression is achieved by artistic performance, but also by perfect lighting and acoustic effects. Effects always enhance the artistic impression and make the overall performance more attractive. Today we are witnessing and users of technically advanced art halls and theatres, whose modern renovations have created opportunities to integrate modern technologies creating lighting and sound effects of unprecedented possibilities.

Light and sound have analogous reflective properties that fold and unfold as required for the desired effects. The folding, unfolding and amplification of sound has been known from Roman amphitheatres and Gothic cathedrals. Such works of art have reflective properties in static form . They were formed by a static spatial construction. New possibilities in acoustics allow for the rearrangement of sound reflecting blocks that can concentrate, filter, or disperse sound into the surroundings.

High-precision reduction gearboxes from SPINEA® have also been successfully used in the renovation of opera halls, e.g. in Reykjavik, Iceland, and Lima, Peru. The choice of reducers for these applications by the implementers was justified by the quiet operation when changing the position of the acoustic block, the sufficient stiffness, which is important for large acoustic blocks, and also the large gear ratio, which allowed the use of small and quiet motors. The precision of operation and the backlash-free gearing arrangement, which clearly defines the position of the acoustic block in space, was also an advantage.

In connection with this demand, the company implemented a specific gearbox selection and testing service to analyse the vibration frequencies as a function of the input speed. With this frequency analysis it is possible to prevent graded vibrations and sounds in the resonance region, for artistic, industrial and scientific applications.
